Lawn needs vary from one property to another. While our complete and deluxe programs are designed to provide most lawns with the products they need to thrive, some properties require some extra TLC. For this reason, we offer a variety of additional services that you can add to any program.

Spring Summer Fall

Spring (April — Mid-June)

Spring products are specifically designed to help replenish your lawn’s roots and soil with the essential nutrients needed to rebound from winter and thrive during the active growing season. These products are also designed to help create a barrier from common pests that emerge in the late spring and early summer.

Hometurf’s Deep Root Fertilization service injects a water-soluble, plant-derived fertilizer into the canopy of mature trees and is sprayed into the soil bed of perennial shrubs and hedges. This delivers depleted nutrients directly back into the soil. These vital nutrients are then carried upwards and made available to the rest of the plant to help revitalize any seasonal damage.

Crabgrass is one of the most common weed grasses that affect lawns each season, usually appearing along sidewalks and next to driveways. Left untreated, Crabgrass can quickly spread, particularly in hot, dry conditions. Applied in the spring, Hometurf’s pre-emergent solution helps to prevent large crabgrass germination and has also shown to reduce the prevalence of dandelions. They say prevention is the best medicine – in the case of Crabgrass, this couldn’t be more true!

Hometurf’s Soil Rejuvenator is a premium blend of organic fertilizer, turfgrass seed, and BioChar – a unique carbon-based product – that improves soil structure to promote better seed germination, nutrient retention and water-holding capacity. Applied in the early spring, this product will help your lawn rebound faster from the harsh effects of Canadian winters and will add strength and depth to root structure to help your lawn better cope with heat and drought in the summer. The best way to envision this product – imagine the bed of a forest following a forest fire. As all of that carbon seeps into the ground, new growth comes back stronger than ever!

Hometurf’s aeration service helps to reduce thatch, improve nutrient and moisture uptake and ultimately enhance your lawn’s ability to withstand environmental stresses. Enabling your lawn to rejuvenate after a long winter is important and aeration provides many benefits by allowing your lawn to receive the air, water and nutrients it needs to replenish.

Hometurf’s Granular Compost and Seed Mix is the best way to rejuvenate a tired lawn! Spread evenly over your lawn, this compost mixture helps to improve soil quality and seed germination. Perfect for lawns that may need a helping hand filling out due to poor soil conditions.

The perfect way to restore that crisp, clean look to your home’s exterior. Hometurf's Weed Control for Paths, Patios and Driveways effectively eliminate unsightly weeds growing in interlocking patios, driveways and stonework. This non-selective treatment controls both broad leaf weeds and nuisance grasses such as crabgrass and quack grass.

Grubs and beetles thrive by eating BTG protein crystals that are located deep within the root zone. The BTG active ingredient, Crystal insecticidal protein, is formulated into our natural Grub Control product, which activates inside the insect pest target when ingested. The insects will stop feeding, become inactive and then grubs be gone!

Lawns with heavy thatch build up often suffer from poor nutrient uptake and improper drainage, resulting in poor growing conditions for turf. Hometurf’s De-thatching Service removes excessive thatch buildup with a mechanical power rake. Recommended for lawns with more than a 1/2" layer of thatch.
